The 1980's until now Another turbulent decade, the end of the Cold War, the fall of the Berlin Wall, the birth of the ME generation. Quartz watches now made up the majority of watches sold worldwide, and mechanical watches were the province of the top Watch Houses and small Boutique Brands where they have remained to this day.
